Building a Lancashire wide SEND and AP Community of Practice

As a Team we were delighted to virtually welcome colleagues from SEND and PRU settings across Lancashire on Thursday 2nd July. In this first meeting we wanted to bring colleagues together who may not have had chance to previously meet and collaborate, creating a community of good practice.

We were joined by Kelly Dillion – Resources Lead at The Careers and Enterprise Company who shared all the lasted updates and initiatives within SEND and PRU, which you can find below.

Jackie McGarry and Amanda Metcalfe from SEND Award winning school Catcote Academy joined us too, sharing what made them an award-winning SEND school whilst giving some top tips on Benchmark 1 and Employer Engagement Strategy.

The conversations were great, and we want to keep that going so please contact your Enterprise Coordinator to gain email addresses of other attendees or if you want to access any resources from Catcote Academy.

We are a newly opened school with a new-to-careers team. So far, we’ve found the careers world extremely friendly, and the seminar was a great way to hear from more established schools about how they run their provision. It gave us some great ideas to help us develop our practice

It was a very valuable opportunity to explore specific SEND issues in more detail with other practitioners facing similar challenges and gain insights into how other specialist provisions meet the Gatsby Benchmarks
